Who would expect to find an Urban Farming Institute in the middle of a down and out part of Oakland Park? They have garden plots and progressive farming such as vertical plots. They also have classes on certain days. This is a nice green space within an otherwise blighted neighborhood just next to the railroad tracks. It is fun to browse and learn.

I have been to the Urban Farming Institute several times and thought I had found a reputable and experienced local shop for my hydroponic / soil grow needs. BUT, things changed the last couple of times I went into the shop. First, there were people in their demonstration grow field area that were totally snappy and rude when it came to looking at the plants and how their grow operations work. Why would an operation named an 'institute' not want people to learn and observe real hand on how things work? It makes no sense to me. It all came to an end for me with the Urban Farming Institute when I ordered a large product that they did not have in stock. Jon assured me it would be in stock in a week or so, so I said OK I can deal with that. He also said he would call when he received the product. I started calling him weekly when the product didn't show up after 2 weeks and he once again said it would come in that week and he would call me. Well, after 3 weeks of me calling him, he said he would have the product in 2 days. I was happy, but it all went out the door when I called to confirm it was in the store Jon let me know that the product did indeed get there but he had sold
